Overview
Incorporated in 1989, Intelligent Business Solutions (IBS) began as a company
responsible for developing and deploying custom, state of the art technology
solutions for clients such as; NASA, RJR Tobacco, B/E Aerospace, Sara Lee and
Wake Forest University, Baptist Medical Center.
In 1991, IBS began development of a Cardiothoracic Surgery information system for
WFU Baptist Medical Center, which not only met stringent database requirements, but
also revolutionized automated document and workflow within the Cardiothoracic
Surgery department.
By 1995, this initial assignment had evolved into the development of a comprehensive
and integrated system for the entire Heart Center. Through this process, the flagship
product, CAOS, was born and by 1997 CAOS was a full electronic health record.
Also, around this time, CAOS became a certified software vendor for both the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) and has been providing certified software solutions to customers for over a decade.
In 2002, IBS began doing business as Clinical Automated Office Solutions (CAOS) and also moved to an Internet based model for delivering it's software, which has shown to be a much more cost effective and efficient solution for the CAOS customer base.
In the latter half of 2005, CAOS expanded it's service offerings with the introduction
of IBS Billing and Coding Service. This service line allows physician practices to
outsource their billing/coding function as a means to improve revenue cycle management and gain access to certified coders.
In March of 2011, IBS changed the flagship product name from CAOS to CardioPulse. The new name was adopted to better reflect the full breadth of functionality within the software in regards to the entire Heart Center. The new name was also an opportunity to announce the imaging capabilities that had been added to the software.
As new procedures and treatments are developed, CardioPulse will continue to evolve
in order to provide our clients with a competitive advantage in their pursuit of
excellence and improving patient care.
